Time for a data logger,but which one????????????? - 11/28/12 12:49 PM

Which logger should I buy?Racepak, innovate or who. There are quite a few offered and I'm on data overload looking at the different ones.
What do you guys use and what do you suggest??
I'm thinking o/2's,egt's,rpm,driveshaft,boost,intake air temp, oil temp and water temp.
545 blown Hemi with carbs and I want to safley turn the wick up all the way

I have bothe the Racpak and the Innovate and the Racpak is by far a better choice. Easy to use and the info is alot easyer to understand. There customer service is the best I have ever dealt with.

Both that you mention are good units with the Racepac
rated higher.... BUT you need to see how fast these
units take readings... usually if you want more channels
it slows down on how many readings
EDIT
also check to see which sensors come with it and cost
of other sensors you MIGHT want later... that is the
PRICEY part of data logging

Best bang for the buck is the RPMperformance logger.

Why dont you hire hemi dave or john balinsky for a day to tune it for you? No messing or guessing with either of em

Racepac is the industry standard, customer service is great, but it be pricey.

Put one of these in a drag car...worked excellent...also does away with the gauge cluster....
We've been using their Junior dragster version for years

Don't cheap out on the sensors. You will need/use them all. I have 21 sensors but wish I also had tire temp and track temp. It is much easier to look at a run with all the info in 1 place.

This is what I have too. It works well for me. Quality piece, good service fair price. Data loggers usually dont answer all your questions, some times they create more questions.

Re: Time for a data logger,but which one????????????? - 11/28/12 11:30 PM

When I was working we would have to set up cars with
400 to 800 channels(inputs)so we would stack 200 channel
recorders.... MAJOR bucks for these units but like I
said before... check sensor prices and what comes
with the unit.... I use a 18 channel recorder called
a Informer(no longer made) but I can read out right
on the unit(has a screen) or down load to a puter...
fortunately I have a bunch of sensors that match up
with this unit... it uses K wire temp probes which
I have a pile of and I have a few pressure transducers
and a vac/pressure transducers..so I saved alot of money

RacePak is only way to go.

Price may be higher, but quality / use ability is second to none.

More importantly, most racers are using it. It sure helps in pits if you have a
problem or need assistance. Not hard to find someone to help.

I've had good luck / customer service from Joel @ Hyperacktive

He can remote login into my laptop to fix what I've screwed up.

No guessing with a data logger either.I'd rather tune it myself, when you have the DATA,it makes proper changes easier .

Racepak Sportsman unit is $799.00 and you can add all the Sensors you want after that. Even just the basic $799.00 package will be a good start

I was looking between Racepak Sportsman and RPM Performance data loggers. The base units seem to be competitively priced, customer service for both are great. So for me it was based on sensor price. Seems RPM averages $75-$150 per sensor. Racepak start at $249 and go up. The more data, the more sensors your gonna need. I hear adding sensors gets addictive! Good Luck with your decision!

Thanks Darrin, they weren't on my radar That's another real good looking system.
If I hafta spend $600 for just an o/2 sensor setup,I'd rather spend $2000 for a cmplete system.
Darrin, how long are you using their product???

Re: Time for a data logger,but which one????????????? - 12/01/12 12:20 AM

I use a V300SD Racepak with many sensors. Stayed away from the sportsman as it does not allow for the use of shock sensors. As others have said, the down side is its expensive, the upside is many people use them as well as the Pros and it's very easy to install and use.

What did the Racepak end up costing you??

Re: Time for a data logger,but which one????????????? - 12/01/12 03:26 PM

If you go to Racepak.com, they have a price list.
http://www.racepak.com/Price_List.pdf
I also posted in insidecompracing.com a wanted ad for racepak sensors and such and ended getting a UDX dash, dual O2 sensor kit and several other sensors there. The used market for this stuff still holds a good value but overall I had savings over new. I probably have over $3K as I bought new shock sensors as well. I'd really have to go back and add it all up for sure.
