Small block ????? - 11/09/12 10:37 PM

DO you think that I could make an honest 750 to 850 hp with one ? Turbo of course. I have an 88mm and want to put it to use. I would like to run 8.80s and 5.60s in the 1/8. What would you build. I want to keep costs down so throw mw you ideas. What do you think 340 stroker, 318 stroker, ???? No 360s I dont have one.. And remember I'm a big block guy so act as though I'm stupid.. Cause, well I am..

You should be able to make an easy 2.5 hp/cubic inch with big heads and turbos.. You REALLY need an aftermarket block for this level of effort, though.

You will be able to make that by mistake.A 88mm should be good for 1200hp.Get a good block 360-1 heads.

If you are going to get a race block or ritter block, I would go 48* and run some w9s. With that set up you would have to try and keep the hp that low. LOL

If it isn't going to be a street car you could try and fill the block. I think your goal is attainable but will definitely require a serious cylinder head and some thinking. A friend makes shy of 900 with a 4cyl DSM so why not with a SBM motor?

Keeping cost down!

340 bore and stroked with a BPE stroke kit. (4.25" stroke) about $2350 or so

Dr Js Airwolf 220 Heads for about $2300
and a good LSM or Bullet cam.

The 88mm and a good Blow Through carb.

750-850 an easy walk in the park.

I run a R3 W8 motor single carb makes 850 HP I'm currently having it re-built after breaking a rod cap, and my builder a chevy race engine builder is going to make a few changes like less dish in pistons maybe cam change but insist that we can get more HP out of this motor, I will update as build goes on. best time 9.03 149 mph.
