Yes, and Enders in 3rd. Barring a real meltdown by Allen and Jason, Enders is pretty much out of it.

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 01:21 AM

Amen!!! Also love it 4 dodges against each other first round. If anderson suddenly picks up tomorrow, I would hope the anouncers really pickup on it and show contempt.

Maybe Sandbaggin has Lines' "High speed" tune up from a prevous event......AJ will crush them!

ANderson only went 197, everyone else went at least 206. I hope Jeggie tattoos his a$$ in the first round.

I call that poor sportsmanship in my book. Its one thing if he races Jason to redlite or something to give his team member the win if he had no chance at the championship but to sandbag like that to try qualify at a certain place on the ladder to be a blocker makes me think much less of him. Time trail qualifying you should run it all out and then if he gets AJ or who ever then let the chips fall. I wonder just how much 10 mph is killing his ET ? After his deal with Enders and now this its no wonder many think he is a big cry baby and a jerk which he is. Ron

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 10:24 AM

Stock eliminator racers have been working the qualifying ladder for decades to get a position favorable for heads-up matches.
In the Super Classes, if your buddy has to go rounds to win the title, and the guy in the lead needs to lose first round, you go up to the lanes and try to line up with the guy and take him out!
I have no problem with Anderson's approach, far better than throwing rounds to a teammate, and if he thinks he can take Alan out in round 2 more power to him! I think he'll get his wish...and then get his butt spanked!
Posted By: dennismopar73

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 12:21 PM

Anytime you have 'multi teams', this will crop up!
It will always go on, it been happening long time, and Along the way AJ has done it to! Wayne County boys did it!!
Everyone tries to position their self some where on the ladder as to not run their team mates til late in the rounds,
It happens in all forms of racing, most noteably NASCAR!!
Posted By: mack

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 01:08 PM

Yes, I hate to see Anderson playing the ladder game but I do know it all goes on every race... I guess I just hate Anderson and that's all I got to say about this..... Go Jeggie... Blister his butt in first round!!!!
Posted By: slantzilla

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 03:17 PM

You got 4 places separated by 10 1/1000 of a second. You guys really believe Anderson is that good he can place the car on the ladder where he wants it?

He's making sure Jason qualifies better than him to keep from taking points away from Jason. Every position in a qualifying round is worth a point in the Top 3.

Gray is intertwined with the Ken Black cars too. I'm sure he'll have a scuba suit on in Round 1. I'm fairly sure Kramer will have one on too.

That's what team cars are for. It's just business.
Posted By: mack

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 04:27 PM

I listened to the live coverage and he said from round 1 his intention was to get on the same side of the ladder as Johnson... He did it and now we have to hope Jeggy lays a 00 light on him and makes him work for round one.....
Posted By: Streetwize

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 05:18 PM

No, I think that AJ needs (and plans) to just go out and EARN the Championship he deserves, by RACING, regardless of who is in the other Lane.

I just think it's BS doing all this 'strategic' qualifying, it Taints the #1 window decal (which really means more to a true racer than anything else in Pro Stock).

btw, isn't Vincent Nobile is on Line's side of the Ladder or does he race V first round?

GO AJ!!!

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 05:40 PM

I know they all play games for their teammates as if Jason and Greg ran each other of course Greg is going to give his teammate the win since Line has a chance to win it. But I have never seen a Pro Stock car sandbag like Anderson is doing and drop 10 or more mph. Thats a little more obvious then I have ever seen before and I have never seen any other Pro Stock team drop a bunch of mph to try and place their car. I hope AJ wins today and takes it all as I am sure most of us on here do. Ron

Let's go A.J.

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 06:15 PM

V. would face Line in the 2nd round if they both make it past the first round.

The bright side is AJ outran Line in the last session.

If AJ makes it 1 round farther than Line today he pretty much has it sewn up.

Watching on ESPN3....wonder if they'll get to run. Those crash & burn fuel guys have made four passes, and oiled the track on two of them. With all that money they can't seem to figure out how to get them to go 1000 feet without making a mess.

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/28/12 10:48 PM

They say that you need to be 151 to lock up the championship and that's true if the leader doesn't show.

If you make a qualifying attempt, it's down to 141.

If the 2nd place guy can't set a national ET record, down to 121.

If Line goes out here, Semi's, and AJ wins, he'll be up by 126-128 points. Show up, make an attempt and it's all but locked up because I really doubt anyone is going to go national ET in PS at Pomona.

AJ goes one round at Pomona, done deal.

So great to see a guy, AJ with such passion and heart. You can tell how badly he wants this championship. I have to say that Line was a great sport in his interview. Wasnt bad mouthing anyone, and he basically said he had to take a shot.

Jason is a stand up guy. Heard he is a Mopar guy at heart. He just gets a bad rap because his boss is such a tool. I guess there are plenty of us though that have to put up with that type of boss. On a high note though WAY TO GO AJ!

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/29/12 02:44 PM

I remember when they had the old black and White Amoco Car and were considered MoPar "also rans" when the Wayne county guys were still around. I met AJ and Roy the Week-end where there car flipped on the big end at Gainesville, I've been a HUGE fan ever since!

There was NEVER a more deserving team for a Championship than the J&J boyz!!
Posted By: Streetwize

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas - 10/29/12 02:47 PM

I think Mathematically he has to Qualify and make a pass (win or lose) in the first round to be out of reach....even if Line wins the race AND sets both ends of the National Record. That gives him 30 points and Jason would need to outscore him by 127 beyond that

Not exactly sure (there's low round bonus points to consider too) but that's pretty close.

I like Jason Line as he seems to be fair guy who does not badmouth when he looses. He just told them thats racing and said nothing bad about anyone.
I was also glad to see Vincent Nobile running real good and get to the final. To bad V Gaines lost to a holeshot in round 1 as he is making good power now also. Congrats to all the Mopar teams and a big thanks to AJ and team as was said us Mopar fans have been waiting a long time for this. Ron

I think we're seeing the benefit of a two car team finally for Mopar. Twice the data, twice the tests, second " view", twice the hits, twice the development and another drivers " view".

I simply cant wait to see that number one on the most deserving team in Pro Stock! I remember talking to one of the piston manufacters, and they told me, " man, that Roy Johnson sometimes asks for some weird stuff". ( paraphrasing). Well, seems the mad scientist sure knows what he is doing!.

Congrats Roy , Allen, and the whole crew, who work behind the scenes to make it all happpen.

I asked Allen to swing by Moparts shortly and give us the update on his way to #1 !!!

It was great not seeing Vinny laying down for AJ, They raced a real race, and a close one to boot. I know Vinny has his day comeing as he is an awesome driver and a great leaver.

Too many times Ive seen a 2 car team make it to the finals and the owner in this case AJ gets the win regardless, but I am sure if somethinglike a mis shift, or some hazed tires it could have been anyones race.

Way to show sportsmanship and not making him lay down.
Posted By: RobX4406

Re: Pro Stock From Las Vegas **RESULTS** - 10/29/12 07:52 PM

Here's the way it comes out to lock up the championship.

All AJ has to realistically do is make 1 qualifying hit.

If that hit puts him in the field, he's done.

Only way Line can win it is if AJ fails to qualify, Line wins event, gets at least 7 of the 20 qualifying points available, AND he must set an ET record. A national ET record at Pomona is VERY unlikely with the record being 6.47.

You know I hate to even think it but many teams do it but look at VN mph on the final run. It was 204 as he may have lifted a tad early even though it looks as AJ said go all out. Dont know dont care as AJ and VN are both great Mopar Pro Stock teams and it will be so great to see AJ win it all as they have worked hard for it and stuck with Mopar all these years. Ron

Ron I agree with you, but if it was me and I was in the other lane and AJ told me to run it all out, I would let him have a half a fender and ride it out. Its respect. Thats all. They (Alan and Roy) have bust there butt and stuck with us(mopar people) for a long time. Just my

I agree 100% with you. AJ and team more then deserve it. Ron

Allen and Roy have worked their tails off to get this, and a huge congratulations to them and crew!

The best part is that Team Mopar will have a championship without a dark cloud hanging over it for eternity.
