Because of all the no car owning keyboard cowboys on the bullet created such a negative vibe about Saturdays electrical problems which was out of Daves control, he threw in the towel. I hope he reconsiders his decision and it will be back for next year.

WORDDD....I feel like there are so many keyboard jockey's out there these days that they will pounce and rip anything to shreds, even the littlest of things...it definitely is a "mob mentality"

bad news though...I really wanted to go watch next year

Re: No more Shakedown at e-town - 10/20/12 12:34 PM

I just enjoyed my 1st visit to E Town for the Shakedown & was already
thinking/planning a return for next year.

Really a great shame this event has been lost, I really hope the decision was for a better reason than some of the senseless bitching . . .

Some folks don't realise how fortunate they are, to have a great event put on like this

Having that event at my "home" track made it a "must attend" for many years. It is also Dave's home track.
Me thinks once things cool down he will reconsider.

Always wanted to go but had to work. Always thought it was the best show of the year here in the northeast.(videos) Sad day for all . Now we have nothing. What I read on the Bullet was all that was involve work real hard to fix several differant problems and still had a good show. To bad there are whinners.

Re: No more Shakedown at e-town - 10/20/12 10:34 PM

If you read what he posted he said he changed the name to shakedown nats to draw more spectators. My guess is most who show up are racers and crew. Without making money at the spectator gate and giving the racers so much he probably lost money.

I can't help but believe all of the crying on YB didn't help the the lack of spectators or the low racer count in 275.

Re: No more Shakedown at e-town - 10/20/12 10:59 PM

Im sorry 275 racers complain the most and produce the least just like in PBIR shakedown and my opinion spectator count whent down when they went to the 1/8.

Re: No more Shakedown at e-town - 10/20/12 11:18 PM

cars are to fast anymore so 1/8 mile is where it going.

I can't tell if your laughing smilie is for me but facts are facts. Insuarance companies are making the rules not the fans or the racers

What race are "they" talking about, because this past week there were full 32 car fields and the most Spectators that this race ever had.

Only negative was the hours of down time while they fixed the timing system, but when they started qualifying again the stands did fill up again

Here right from Dave:

"As the the "Name change" to the SHAKEDOWN NATIONALS. The ONE and ONLY reason we made that change was to attract more spectators. When the average person heard "Shakedown at E'town" they did not understand it was a Drag Race. To you and me we know...but to the lay person not. We thought if a person heard Shakedown "Nationals" they might be able figure out its a car race. That was what we were hoping for...."

My post was my take on what dave said in my quote from him.

The crying and haters is just make it harder to deal with. lets not forget he lost the alanabi backing last year so he was funding this mostly on his dime.

If its not making money and just taking it from you your not going to keep doing it. (my opinion)

Re: No more Shakedown at e-town - 10/21/12 08:10 AM

there are a lot of different aspects to this whole deal and i am in no way taking shots at dave.

i haven't been to etown in years and don't expect i'll be going back anytime soon. given it's a national event track and seeing the facility i'd have to say it's just another example of the economy and drag racing sliding backwards.

as best i know they had some very unusual problems with the timing system but from a spectator standpoint saturday wasn't a good deal.

if etown gave dave the finger i hope they all have other means of employment. i'm sure he did all he could to please as many people as possible and imho the facility let him down.

I have to agree!!

I have never been to an E-town Shakedown. But I know several people from other parts of the world that make the global trip (cars & all) just for that event. Also I have never seen that place NOT PACKED on the Main Event day from pics and videos.

I know several years ago they had considered canceling it because of lack of Funding. I believe that was when AlAnabi stepped up and helped out. NOT SURE THOUGH!

Kind of the same thing that happened at Orlando with the Street Car Nationals. They just couldn't get the kind of funding from sponsors that would bring the Big Dogs out to play.

Far as e-town giving Dave the Oh-Well. I guess he needs to return the favor and find a new location for the event. See how they like that OH WELL!!!

I had always wished that event would relocate year to year so MAYBE 1 day I'd actually get to go.

N/A best ET 9.49 @142 thru the mufflers and ET Streets. Flying out to Arizona next month for the dyno session on my low deck F2 peocharger blow thru combo. Looking to have to slow it down for the 8.50 index. I was on the Passtime show at Budds Creek MD.

well you will soon see how nice the 1/8th is. If your on your game you will be able to cover that 142mph in the 8th and back half another 40 in the 1/4. My car on TT5's and be a totaly stock body i love the 8th.

Re: No more Shakedown at e-town - 10/21/12 11:38 PM

i haven't run 1/8 much and never was a big fan of it but running the small tire stuff 1/4 is asking for all kinds of problems...damaged cars, damaged engines and damaged drivers.

i think the decision to run the small tire cars 1/8 is a sensible one especially considering the kinda steam some of them are making

The car has been together since the 1995 so over the winter the car will be updated. Chrome moly 7.50 cert cage,4 wheel strange disc brakes, top gun 4-link bars, anti-roll , chute and wheely bars. The car is a big tire car and my problem is tire choice, like I said this car has been raced with mufflers and et streets for years. I want to run the 8.50 index but Mickey Thompson offers the tallest et street Ive seen is 28x10.5, that would look funky with a stretched wheel opening so it looks like ill have to run a slick 33x10.5w
