904 front pump bolts torque spec?

904 front pump bolts torque spec? - 07/06/12 08:14 PM

My ATS book says 175 ft/lbs for the pump bolts. I have always tightened them with common sense. I was just looking thru the book and noticed this. It must be a misprint?? All of the inch/lbs measurements have an * behind them.

Definitely a typo , that should be inch/lbs.

No doubt.... at that torque the bolt would need to
be 1" and not into alum.... I dont have a book handy
but I think its 20 ft/lbs

Yeah I figured they meant inch/lbs. I converted it and it came out to around 15 ft/lbs. I've always used just a 3/8 ratchet to tighen them probably around 20-25 ft/lbs.

I did a double take when I seen that and for a breif second I thought have I been doing this wrong all these years. But then used common sense as I thought more in depth.

Just thought I'd bring it up since after all it is in the ATS manual, and someone new to the hobby might not realize what they are doing.

I must have the same book.(ATSG) Mine has 175 too. I put an asterisk beside it. Definately a misprint.

For comparison, this is from a factory service manual.
