What's Missing?

What's Missing? - 06/27/12 03:19 AM

I have a car that I race that has a 408, eddy heads, headers with stock electronic ignition with chrome box. I have a 780 double pumper with 3/8 line and a holley electric fuel pump on the stock tank. I run 1/8th mile, in the 7.1 at 96 area. Occasionally it will miss slightly (2 to 4 times) on the top end and loose 1 or 2 mph. The very next pass it will run good through the whole 1/8th mile. The last time it missed at the end when I let off of it it back fired as it coasted down the lane (if that is a clue to anything). Does anyone have a guess or a way to determine if my problem is gas or electrical? I am considering putting an MSD system on it but I would really hate to waste $500 and still have the miss.Any ideas? Thanks

We used to have several people here more than willing to give advice but, it seems lately it turns into a fight

I myself have had little to no luck with the Mopar ignition stuff , its all built out of the USA and quality has been lousy

I'd for no other reason replace that even its not the problem

Good luck with the hooptie man, some times those crazy skips are hard to find

ps

Post pics of it , we like pictures !

My first though would be the ignition is not up to the task. Get a 6AL and a new coil.

The first thing I would do is check all the grounds on the ECU and all the motor ground straps and clean them very thoroughly

6AL all the way.

Check the reluctor gap in the distributor before you do anything, though...

Quoted for truth ..

I for one would rather pay for quality and they can increase it that way .

Buying junk decreases my bottom line
