our latest project car. 2008 chally! - 11/02/08 02:10 AM

car has about 900 miles on her. love the color and man the interior is about as nice as anything i have been in.

car is in for some mods that include a new long block in the 426 inch area. based off the stock 6.1 block.
heads are almost done. moving about 400 cfm peak at this point with a 2.100 intake and 1.59 exhaust.
will have a converter/exhaust/intake also.
she is fully coated with polydyn coatings. so i am expecting some decent numbers from this one.

last one made 610/645 and was uncoated.

here is some eye candy

I saw this one on display last week...first one i have seen up close. It has the 6.1. All I can say is, seeing one "in the Flesh" is alot more exciting than pictures. It's almost "surreal"..lol

Great "project" car you have there!! Will look forward to your progress..keep us posted! Please!lol

better take more pictures of it like that. The restorers 20 years from now will be arguing the paint coverage on the frame rails as shown!

Man...what kind of HP numbers are you expecting? I would have guessed much more than 620 hp with 400 cfm heads....

I take it these are stock ported heads?

I will have the flow sheets scanned before the end of the week.

This is a production 6.1 head with our own valve job, portwork and camshaft. The 2.08 valve outflowed a 2.100 Manley Valve by several CFM across the curve. It's a shame we are only running a .577 lift cam. If I could get a .650 lift solid roller into it, point more compression and an adjustable rocker this thing would make stooopid power.

Re: our latest project car. 2008 chally! - 11/18/08 09:33 PM

last one made 620 on a mild 218/224 cam...
im only looking for 550 or so at the wheel on this one.
drivetrain eats up about 18 percent. so that would or should be around 650 or so.
cam is still mild...this is a computer friendly design.
223/227 .577 lift 114 lsa

heads move air. those numbers where on our bench. you know how that can change.
stock they where in the 330 range.

i also agree...needs a good turbo kit.

converter uses pairs of two bolts. total of 6.

converter used is a reworked stock case. case is an unuasual shape and ois about 9.5 inches in diameter...stock. internals are differant. about 2800 stall.

converter is alot deeper than a normal converter you might be used to seeing.

We really busted on it tonight...It's almost done now. It will be done minus bolt ons this weekend. After that, it's going to be fully tuned the next weekend. I can't wait...

Man, thats a neat and SMART project.

Its a lot cleaner, faster and I bet cheaper than trying to resurect a 40 year old rusted out chariot!!!

I think the new Challenger is growing on me. I really didnt like it at first and I think its a bit puffy and overweight and BIG. But IM starting to like it more and more, specially now thats available with a 6 speed.

Re: our latest project car. 2008 chally! - 11/27/08 10:59 PM

its nice to work on.
almost simple.

the tuning is the hard part in my book.

thats the head that we have gotten to 390 peak cfm. off a stock 2.080 intake valve. the valve is a ferrera piece from mopar.

starting on the intake today.

Cool project.

I was drooling over a black one with the 6-sp with ~800 miles on it yesterday. I was at the dealer getting some things done on my truck and there was one in the showroom. Apparently the owner got it for himself and it's already had a tranny. He's not sure if he's keeping it but it's parked in the showroom for now.

just thrashed through the weekend to get it all together and up and running.
today we will be taking some pics.
came out ok. the tuner was able to squeek some decent power out of the car.
its sister made 466 at the wheel. on a mustang dyno.
this one was even higher.

Can you list all the mods made to this car to get that kind of power...AND how much would all this cost for a DIY type build up. You talkin 475+HP at the rear wheels with no supercharger ?? That simply amazing !!

Pretty good numbers on a VERY COOL project, but nothing out of this world for the newer gen cars. My buddy has and 05 GTO that made 468 hp to the wheels with the stock ported intake, stock ported heads, a cam and Exhaust. And the cam is designed for nitrous so it will pick up a bunch more on the juice.

If i could afford a newer generation muscle car, I would own one. Until the dart will have to do.

Keep up the good work guys!

i am talking that much at the wheel on a N/A motor that is 15 percent lower that what a dynojet dyno would have shown us.

its in realitly over 500

i will list the mods. it isnt that complicated of a build

Re: our latest project car. 2008 chally! - 12/07/08 10:06 PM

466 on a mustang dyno using a correction factor of 13 percent comes out to 526 at the wheel.

parts list is a stock ported 6.1 head peak 390 cfm
custom cam 223/227 at .050
intake
callies crank
callies rod
diamond piston
polydyn coatings

3 inch cat back.
25 percent u/d pully
