i've put that setup on street driven hemi's and never had a single oiling problem.

hey Ralph, just make sutre you don't mix up the left and right rocker setups or you won't get any oil to the rockers.

Good stuff Ralph, glad to see it going back together. You have a good guy helping you out, Dan's a great guy. He helped me out tremendously with parts and knowledge with my engine build. Maybe you can get him up here to visit when you have the first shake down runs.

I have a question on "oiling the valvetrain". I attended the Bristol race this weekend and asked several Top Fuel teams about valvetrain oiling. They ALL use factory oiling through the block/head/rocker shaft. I watched them assemble the engine, no external oil lines etc. Why don't they oil through pushrods, external lines etc?

Ralph

Do a cranking compression test and post what you have. record what it is after 3 pumps and where it actually peaks. All plugs should be out and the throttle wide open. Static compression ratio doesn't really mean much. It's the cam (among other things) that will decide what octane you need.

Re: Marking up my new Hemi - 03/31/13 11:48 AM

looks good ! i'd start with c-16 when its on the spray better to be safe than sorry of course my 606 hemi is 11.7 to 1 comp i use 93 octane pump gas on 275 shot of spray but i take 9 degrees out of 31 degrees of initial timming,

Re: Marking up my new Hemi - 10/18/13 01:31 AM

My friend and I but the timing down 2deg for racing because the car isn't certified and have keep in the 10s.The new converter has been loosen up but still good for 175 shot.Well we stay in the 10 and run 10,1 @ 135.Wen we got home and found the timing turn down 6deg but not bad for right off the trailer.Time for winter up here have to wait for next year. But it was nice to get out after 5 years with no motor.Much tuning for next year.
