What does everyone use for motor oil? - 05/15/12 06:10 PM
It's that time of year and I have to change oil in my Duster. I'm out of my stock of old Valvoline premium blue and EOS I used to run. I wanted to know whats the best for a mild 440 with a solid MP .528 cam? I know zinc is a high priority but i'd like to be able to get something off the shelf and not have to order from online. Are there any additives that are worth using? Thanks

Brad Penn racing oil
10W-30 in the drag race engine
20W-50 in the street driven 440
The oil gets hotter on the street than at the drag strip (trailer).
It is getting more and more available from distributors, but not in every town. After years of buying from an out of town race shop, a local NAPA store started carrying it and I bought it there this year.

Mobil One 15w50 synthetic or Valvoline VR1 20w50 depending on which car.
My Cummins gets Rotella 15w40.

The only thing I can recommend for oil is to make sure your engine has enough of it. When it doesn't, it didn't really matter what brand there wasn't enough of in it...

I've been using shell rotella 15/40 HD diesel oil in everything for the last 30 years and never had a oil related engine failure. Since they started to cut down on the zinc content I've been adding a bottle of EOS to my Hemi also. Dave
