thanks Mike,,I have a guy at work that is having a heck of a time finding a good 8.750 posi unit for his,,,,now get this,,,a 1952 chevy street rod, it came with a 8.750 in it,he has found a Dana with a good posi and 4.10 gears and wants to have his axels fit to the dana, he plans on buying the green bearings and new tube ends and have a local fab shop do the work, I think it's a neet idea, if I could only talk him into a nice 440.

8.75 came factory with 30 splines, some Dana's did also but there are also 35 spline Dana's. The housing ends are the same if the Dana was a passenger car rear.

What year is the Dana and is it a truck or car rear? 68-69 car rear is 23 spline , 70-72 car rear is 35 spline , I think that some truck rears were 16 spline .

He needs to pull an axle on that dana and find out what it is before , plus 8.75 axles are same lenght side to side , danas aren't.

I will have him pull an axel to make sure and yes it came from a mid 80's 3/4 ton dodge van.

That dana probably has 23 spline axles. I thought 8 3/4 rears had 30 spline axles?

I had a sure grip or trac loc from a mid 80's van and it had 30 splines.

I'm pretty sure the 8 3/4 originally in my cuda was 30 spline.

Both Dana 60's I've worked w/ recently were both 23 spline and from mid '70s trucks.

8.75 should have 30 spline through all years.

D60 can have 16, 23, 30 or 35 splines and maybe some more stuff in between.

The 30 splines for each rear are the same diameter.

I know that the 8.750 is 30 spline, but did not realize the dana's had so many variations of spline count,,,learn somthing every day.
thanks for the responses guy's.

1970 GMC and Chevy trucks came with 30 spline Dana 60 I'm almost sure some of the 3/4 ton vans ,Ford, Mopar and GM came with them also, mayybe not You can change the side gears in the non 30 spline posi to 30 spline side gears
