holley metering plates

Anybody out there drill & tap a standard metering plate's
and make there own I.F.R.'s with brass set screws?

I bought a 02 kit and I'm trying to get dialed in.

I picked up a hand full of metering blocks at a swap meet
and I noticed that the I.F.R,s change from model to model.
So I been swapping plates to start.

have you matched the plate # on the holley site to the carb to see what can be used?i have drilled small bleeds and made the bigger but no plate drilling.

Problem you run into is the floats hang up on the jets. I think there is floats that have indents in that you can get now. these were not available back in the day when I tried jetting plates may or may not work.

You can drill present jet holes in the bottom out to various sizes even plug with liquid solder and re drill.

best bet is the metering block conversion kits

I had CR Engr. in Whittier,CA modify my original six pak carbs, they epoxy plugged the bottom inlet holes and drill and tapped right above that hole and used a screw in holley air bleed jet It clears the stock floats I have changed them, I bought some .031 air bleeds from Summit(Quick Fuel brand I think)and drilled them as needed for different elevation tracks
