Thanks to Bud's Auto Sales for stepping up to the plate and sponsering this"Hemi Shootout"
Thanks also to the associate sponsers that have supported the Curt memorial race for all these years and the Tedesco family for allowing it to continue. We had many offers to move this race but since this was Curt's home track and the Tedesco family are like our second family and supported this race since the beginning it was an easy decision to keep the race at PRP.
Thanks everyone,
Respectfully

After hearing about the last couple of class racing ventures it sounds like they were nothing short of a bracket race.Class racers are more than welcome to test their skills against the "adverage bracket racers."
After chasing their tails for years,it can't be too embarrassing for them to hide in thier trailors after getting their azz smacked by a "adverage bracket racer"
Lets look at a class win on adverage most 2 or 3 cars compete excluding the SS/AH that bring out almost a dozen cars. Now look at a adverage bracket race starting with Quick 16, then S/P and Pro that number over double digits at any given event, sometimes in the 100s.A "adverage bracket racer" must prevail in a multitude of races sometimes an adverage of 5 to 10 in one day and usually end up running round robin in the later rounds for a win

Re: June 15-17 - PA - Curt George “All Mopar” Memorial - 05/09/12 08:36 PM

Is the hemi shootout just a regular bracket race for specific cars?

What does dial to the nearest tenth mean? Does it mean I always have to dial with a "0" in the hundreths? i.e 8.90 instead of 8.93? Can you change your dial round to round?
Posted By: Steve1118

Re: June 15-17 - PA - Curt George “All Mopar” Memorial - 05/14/12 03:20 PM

Your dial in must end with a zero...which does mean you have to dial to the nearest tenth, up or down, your choice.

A lot of these guys are Nostalgia Super Stock racers, and that is the reason for the format. Most of the NSS races on the east coast use that format. It levels the playing field from the professional bracket "killers" out there...and makes it much like the old NHRA National events where you ran off an NHRA class index which always did end in a zero. In general, it forces full passes and discourages brake light contests in the big end.

Thanks for the question....hope this clears it up.

Re: June 15-17 - PA - Curt George “All Mopar” Memorial - 06/06/12 04:08 PM

I am seriously considering coming to the event since it is a short drive and only one day.

Is a four speed with a two-step legal? I'm assuming "no electronics" means no delay boxes, but I would like to confirm before deciding to attend.

Can you change your dial between rounds as long as it ends in a "0"?

Thanks,
Matt Welker

Bob,
Can you clear one thing up for me? I can only make it out for Friday due to family activities. I was going to come out and Test and Tune on my Dart and bring my son along to check things out.

Can I just enter and pay for one day of Test and Tune on Friday? If so, how much?

PRP's website says "No Test and Tune" for Friday. The Flyer has weekend prices and $20 on Friday, but I think that's to enter the Gambler's race.

Thanks Bob,

Larry

Yes to both. Two steps, four speeds are just fine. No delay boxes, matte boxes, and stuff like that.

You can change you dial, but it still has to end with a zero. That gives a tenth (or two) either way, up or down.

This is a fun race, and we will use generally accepted NSS rules found in the northeast. Dialing to the nearest tenth generally creates more all out racing. A tenth difference is a lot to make up, either way, and it levels the playing field from the bracket "sharks" who tune everything with a computer. Everyone is as competitive as anyone else....it gives us geezers as good a shot as the young guys!

Hope to see you there, Matt.

Re: June 15-17 - PA - Curt George “All Mopar” Memorial - 06/08/12 12:55 PM

Thanks Bob,...is there anyway I can find out for sure? When this was run by the Blankenships, every year there was tons of confusion at the gate. I got a lot of "attitude" from the gate workers and felt like I was trying to rob the place. I just don't want to go through that if I show up and ask to just T&T.

Thanks,

Larry

I can't speak for anyone else's "attitude", but I can speak for Bob, Ronnie & myself...and everyone else involved.

Let's make this a fun deal....have some fun hanging with the other racer guy and gals, and just enjoy messing around with our cars. I've long since given up the idea of making money at this, and if I want to be aggravated I'll go to work, so let's have some fun.

Re: June 15-17 - PA - Curt George “All Mopar” Memorial - 06/08/12 04:42 PM

Yup, I'm not talking about any of you guys. Bob's been great to me over the years.

I just like being a little in the background at these things. I'm not a "racer". I don't even have a dedicated race car. I just like to play with my toy. I try to not disrupt what's going on.

I could surely go to the Test and Tune the night before, but it's more fun to do it with fellow mopar guys, if possible.

Re: June 15-17 - PA - Curt George “All Mopar” Memorial - 06/14/12 01:46 AM

What are the times for qualifying and eliminations for the Hemi shootout? I see the flyer says open time trials at 9am, Hemi shootout at 5PM. Is 5PM the first round of eliminations for the shootout or the final eliminations time? Are there schedule qualifying runs for the Hemi cars as a group.

Sorry for the questions, but this is my first time at this even so I have no idea how it is run/scheduled and I'm trying to figure out when I need to be there and when the actual race/time trials will happen for family in the area who aren't used to being at the track all day.

Thanks again. Looking forward to being there on Sat.

The first round of the shootout is at 5pm, give or take. There will be some time trials during the day.

There is also an additional Hemi race on Sunday, which pays another $1K to win.

Glad to have you there. Thanks for the support.

Question - do they sell 110 race fuel at the track?

Thanks,
Russ
Posted By: Steve1118

Re: June 15-17 - PA - Curt George “All Mopar” Memorial - 06/14/12 07:46 PM

yes. They sell a lot of different brands of VP, 110 is among them. Not a problem.

Here is other information regarding the events of the weekend...

There will indeed be a second Hemi race on Sunday. I recieved this email from the track manager.

I have clarified the hemi class on Saturday is the Hemi Showdown with free entry. The Hemi class on Sunday is entry $90, winner $1000, R/U $500, Semi’s $75. There will be a complete race for all classes on Saturday, as well as, a complete race for all classes on Sunday.

We will be at the track until probably midnight Friday night. It should be no problem getting people in.

Let me know if there is any other confusion or questions.
