What state was Bob Porter from? There is a Bob Porter from Northern Ohio that had a Cuda and a Dart several years ago. He also has an old Pro Stock Duster that was called "Tasmanian Devil". I had not seen him in years until his nephew bought and old spray booth that we sold at our body shop. If this sounds like the same Bob Porter, I can probably hunt him down and see what history he has on that car. Charlie Moore

I have copied this off a couple sites
One of Eddie Smith’s old cars, “West Virginia Hemi,” this ’68 Barracuda originally was bought by Bob Porter, in Ohio, where it was called “Porter’s Pride.” Porter also owned a ’64 or ‘65 car that was beat up in a tornado that destroyed his house and garage. The ’68 survived virtually unscathed. Porter obviously needed money, so he sold the ‘Cuda to Eddie Smith, who painted it red and black, and raced it extensively. The car was then bought and raced by Richard Beshore, who turned it into the show car you see here. This ‘Cuda won the Hemi Shootout at Indy a couple of years ago

Mike got 2 years, he should be out. Eddie is doing 5, has less than 3 to go.

I used to drool over the WV Hemi cars when they came to the Gators.

Bob Porter was from Wheelersburg, Ohio. And yes his cars were called "Porters Pride" In April of 1968 a tornado crossed from Kentucky and over the Bell Hill section of Wheelersburg, where Bob lived. I'm not sure what cars were involved but his house and garage were. Mark knows more than most on these cars.

Their pits were a must see every year at Indy too.
