Help! Front Runner Tire Size - 03/30/12 12:42 AM

Hi Guy's....

How does the front Tire size affect the ET and or MPH? Example.. I had 27" M/T 4 ply street type skinny and the Moroso 26" track only skinny? Does the height affect the roll out, ET or MPH? Not sure what to purchase. Thanks, Joe

The front tire size can affect all three things, reaction time, ET and MPH One inch is not much but it should be measurable I have ran all the way from 22 inch front tall tires to 31 inch tall and most sizes in between If your going to bracket race it or class race the car on a sportmans tree(.500 seconds between each light) I would use the tallest tire you can fit on the car If your going to run on a Pro Tree(.400) and use electronics it doesn't matter what size front tire is on the car, you can dial in the delay box for the reaction times

Shorter tire = quicker reaction time.
Taller tire = quicker ET due to less rolling resistance, supposedly.

I'd think i'd be more of a RT change than ET change...

I think so too, hence my "supposedly" remark. I was just pointing out the general rule.

In theory, a taller front tire will experience fewer revolutions over a given distance than a shorter tire, which results in less parasitic drag and better ET's.

A taller tire will result in longer roll out on the
lights giving you a better rolling start which will
end up in a quick ET.... but if your concern is the RT
then the short tire will break the beams sooner
