Re: who's wires to run - 03/03/12 05:44 PM

Moroso ultra 40's best wire made in my opinion - the boots don't get brittle from the heat and then become tough to get off the plug like some other plug wires - I always make my wires up myself - using a jig fixture I have - so I don't really care about pre-made custom fit wires

Re: who's wires to run - 03/03/12 05:46 PM

Ive heard nothing but great things on the firecore, but when ive had the same msd wires, cap, rotor for seven years with zero issues and a new set of msd wires on the shelf with a new cap and rotor maybe if another 6-7 years firecores might be a good option.

Anyone know the price diff between msd and firecores?

For some like me msd wires are fine, but if the FC wires were not alot more id go with them plus its a mopar guy selling them

Taylor 10.4 Thunder Volt 50 wires here and very happy with them, but when time for another set I will check out the FireCore wires if for no other reason than they are made by a fellow Moparts member.

We like the Ultra 40's also. They are on our 8, 9, and 10 second cars with zero issues.

There's other plug wires besides firecores?

It's probably best to contact Rick so he can set you up with a custom set after he knows what you have for distributor,headers,etc...
I have all Firecore50 ignition on my car now and it's all perfect
Just ask Antron Brown what wires he prefers on his 7000 horsepower top fuel dragster and they are the very same wire and on the spot customer service that you can get for your race engine when you go with Firecore50 wires and ignition components.

I run Rick's wires as well and no problems. I burnt one on the test stand (was sitting directly on the header) Emailed him about purchasing a replacement. Next thing I know it's at my door. He sent it before I even paid for it!!!

Customer service is second to none and the wires are pretty good too

Re: who's wires to run - 03/04/12 03:29 AM

i've had great luck with both MSD and Moroso wireds, and have been using them on everything for many years without issue. Thats from stockers, to Super Gas to blown alky to Superspeedway injected....they have been fine.

A couple pics attached that may shed some light as well....the first guy knows a thing or two...

Re: who's wires to run - 03/04/12 06:11 AM

just about everything we build gets MSD wires. tried some back to back dyno tests with other wires like firecore 50's, etc and never saw the supposed power gain. the MSD's are less expensive too i believe.
one of these day's i'd like to do a dyno comparison between the plain old MSD billet distributor verses the firecore INGOT distributor.

Thanks for all of the kind words, guys. This post kind of sums up what a lot of racers are noticing.

Re: who's wires to run - 03/04/12 03:40 PM

How do you like the Aurora's? What did your set cost you? I like their website. Looks like a 440 set would cost $180, not including labor, or is that included in the piece's price? Any pics of your engine with them on? Thank you. Our biggest customer base, are customers with 7-11 second vehicles. Aurora looks like a nice 400 ohm wire. It certainly is an option.

All 10 cars of MOPAR MAFIA RACING use FireCore Wires and will not use any other.

FireCore Wires rule the track just ask the Pros using them..

MSD here. I dyno tested a set of Firecores and didn't see any difference b/t them and the MSD's on my 800+ hp hemi. Nothing wrong w/ the Firecores, but I kept the MSD's b/c the red wires look better to me.

Well let me first off say these are on my 2.2 FWD driver. It is hard to find good wires that last on those engines because of how chrysler designed the distributor cap, the wire end is the terminal inside the cap. I got them from a vendor on our 2.2/fwd message board, he normally sells them for $55/set (4+coil) last I recall.
For 2.2 wires they are easily the best set of wires IMO vs just about anything else out there. I dont run them on my 318, it gets regular parts store wires because its just a driver and there probably in the same price range as B/RB wiresets.
