roll bar rust - 03/03/12 12:36 AM

so i got my 8 point bar out of storage. It is covered in surface rust. more than a scothc brite pad will remove. i have to use a wire wheel or flapper. very small pitting, but it is there. should i toss this and get a new one? will it still be safe?

its a chris alston steel kit

I would suggest Metal-Prep with a Scoth-Brite pad. The metal prep helps remove the rust while leaving an excellent base to paint on. Just a little messy to rinse it off. I use wet paper towel to rinse, then dry . Start at the top and work your way down in small areas. If it drys to soon just reapply. I'm sure my buddy that painted my cage would like the brush-on Hammer-Tone idea. He say's I have to paint my next cage myself.
