Lickity Split 1 step closer - 02/27/12 04:02 AM

Only had 1 day this weekend. Managed to fab the hood pin brackets and get the hood and scoop mounted. The brackets will get rounded off and painted. Either body color or black? The hood is from AAR,fits very well, The scoop is from unknown mfg. It came off my buddy's A990 car. The first piece of carpet has been test sewn and fitted also.

Front pins were to short so I made extensions out of 3/4" solid stock.

Little advertising for MCH before I paint the hood.

I hope to run Milan NMCA race,Josh's Indy race,Norwalk Finals at a minimum. It all depends on how quick I can get a handle on the tune-up and gas prices

I like the looks better. Actually it's not a 64 Hemi scoop either as the back is not contoured around the hood. The price was defiantly right though. I did have to fix a couple of cracks as this was once on the famous "Volcano" hood to satisfy NSCA rules.

Pretty car! As for the pin brackets, I'd be inclined to leave them natural - they appear to be aluminum - but if you have to paint them, I think body color would look better (more harmonious) than black.

When you paint hood pins and brackets all they do is chip, no matter how careful you are. Car is looking good!

Correct on the scoop. Back in the day the rules read no carbs thru the hood and a 5" scoop. We made a hood that was bowed up about 4" in the middle. Then the scoop was bent so the opening remained constant. No one ever noticed. Yes the brackets are aluminum.
