yes,its a harwood--i had this 6pack hood laying around--not useing it so i incorporated it together--since i had to have a new "forward facing" scoop.
i;ll finish up the fiberglass work on it in 2 weeks

Just curious y did u take off the cowl hood?I like the dart with the cowl hood but that's just my

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/22/12 10:56 PM

i LOVE the cowl hood but it was killing my topend speed(MPH)
i would run 5.60 @ 123----8.90 @ 151---1/8 was good but my top speed should be around 155----it was choking for air on the big end
both hood mount the same--so i can switch at any time

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/22/12 11:12 PM

I see....maybe that's y i see that most people that have cowl hoods incorporate some sort of forward facing scoop on top...Thax.....

P.S that dart is fast care to share some lite on that combo?

Did you ever try covering the vent in front of the windshield? All the air goes down the vent before getting into the cowl hood if you don't cover it.

I put a big scoop like that on my Barracuda in place of SS Scoop, and I hate it hard to see over and looks to big for car, I infact was looking at a 6in cowl, did not see any differance in ET

Scoop copulation? It's just too many scoops for 1 car.

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/23/12 12:54 AM

No, I am not a fan of the combo look.
To me it looks like (no fan), painted or not. Not to be rude but you did ask.
Id rather see it with a Chevy Cowl than that.

Just my , its your car.

I went 9.10 @ 150 mph, NA with a cowl hood, though my scoop does extend quite a bit farther back than yours. I would be curious to see what difference your new hood makes if you are able to run the hoods back to back sometime.

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/23/12 01:47 AM

like i said--i love the cowl hood--but when i took my motor to be "freshened up" @ BES the first thing they asked was "do i have a forward faceing scoop" ????
so--since i have time--i made this to see what will happen--this stuff was just sitting around collecting dust--so why not use it.
the cowl is a 6" cowl and this is not much bigger--and it gives the car a new and different (than everybody elses) look.

Is the motor in the car still offset like stock? If so it doesn't look like you offset the new scoop to match the carb center Any reason for that

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/23/12 02:16 AM

there's plenty of room inside the scoop for the 1600 cfm dom.
yes the motor is off center just a little.

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/23/12 01:28 PM

SO what seems to be a "joke" to you guys-----haven't you see anyone do something different before ??????????????
i HATE those flat hoods with a big scoop on them---BUT thats just me and my opinion
it was an experiment i was trying and I think it looks cool
o'well-----my $$$$$$$$$ and my time.

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/23/12 05:56 PM

Make the two outside openings match the same radius of the scoop...that'd look pretty good.

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/23/12 06:54 PM

if you like it VFN 5 1/2 sixpack scoop about $200 with shipping

Posted By: ROSSIO

Re: MY new hood scoop - 01/23/12 07:39 PM

i just got it "moched" up---but i am filling in the outside openings.
i left the sides on for support.
i need atleast 6" of clearence so the VFN 6p scoop will not work for me.

Why all the hate?

Guy's using parts he already has... I think its pretty cool!

Rossio, when your car goes faster all the haters will want the measurements so they can do the same thing

No haters here - I don't think. Atleast not on my part. He asked and got some answers. I applaud his ingenuity and thinking out of the box. I just don't like how it looks. Anytime you can improve air flow in, your gonna get more power out- no matter how you accomplish it.
