It really depends on what you are doing with the car and if you are running a std or HV oil pump. The standard 5qt. pan and std pump will work ok for most street applications. Most racers prefer at least a 7qt. pan. My belief is more oil and better oiling can't hurt your engine, regardless of application. The only thing to watch out for is if you run a shallow pan and HV pump, some say you can run the pan dry under extreme high RPM conditions. I've also heard this was a myth. The truth is unknown to me.

The downside to the deep pans is ground clearance (on some cars). Some have taken pans out on speed bumps and some have run them with no problems. Depends on your car, driving style and road conditions. A good all-around pan is the 6qt. Hemi pans available at Mancini.

chassis and road clearance determine your pan.
Those with limited ground to pan often choose to use a kick out to increase volume .Accusumps can solve that problem.

most important in an B/RB Hemi pan is the baffles and scrapers
Aluminum pan and dual lines are for the serious racer but I have seen reworked factory stuff do the job also
