Tubes Needed for MT ET Streets (Bias Ply)? - 01/08/12 09:22 PM

I'm thinking I don't need them but thought I would ask here.

They will be the 28X11.50-15 (roughly a 9X28" on a 15X7 cop rim) if that matters.

Thanks!

Yea
I had a set of old 32x19.5 Mickeys, and those things would NOT hold air worth a crap, seemed like the bead on the tire was super short, they just wouldnt seal on the Craiger Super Tricks I had...
Mickey does make natural rubber tubes for your tires..

a friend has that size ET streets and ran them on 8" steelwheels and 10" centerlines and it works without tubes but you have to fill them up regularly

Try some High Tack on the beads ...some guy's use
soap?,but High Tack worked for me before I had tube's
also they didn't seem to move much on the rim, without
screw's.

They work without tubes but they will leak down after a few days, hoosier QTPs hold air better imo. Also tubes make the sidewalls stiffer, but weigh more.

I never ran tubes, but you have to keep your eye on the pressure. I had to re-fill them once a week.

I've been running them for about 3 years now without tubes. Might have to add air once or twice a year, that's it. Generally after the car sits for a while, like over the winter.

The bead area on the MT ET Streets are terrible. You may have to prep them to make them seal. Cut off all the little nubs. Like others said, keep an eye on the pressure and you should be OK.

I've wore out three sets of M/T ET Street tires on mu Duster so far, two sets of new tires and one set of used tires, the new ones didn't need any special prep to make them keep air in them The one used set wouldn't hold air worth a crap until I followed what was recommended on here for sealing them, use Dawn dish washing soap straight out of the bottle and coat the intire inside of the tires, let them sit over night to soak in before remounting and reinflating them Works good, last a long time
