B Body Motor Set Back with motor plate - 01/02/12 05:32 AM

Calling all b bodies from 1971 to 1974 with motor set back using a motor plate.
How far back from its original position can you move the motor back without having any problems with clearance from firewall etc. ??
PS: Im using my original k member, (minus the motor mounts) and original firewall. Motor is a 440 with aftermarket aluminum heads.
thanks,
Pete

I'm not exacly sure, but a few things to consider as I look under the hood of a bb e body would be things like trans tube/ dip stick location, center link/ oil pan clearance, passenger side header design on # 8 tube, trans mount, maybe trans linkage, but aftermarket shifter solves that one.

Thanks and yes I completely understand your thoughts regarding my clearance. Oil Pan will be fine as Im notching my K member, header tubes I can re-route the last tube if needed, trans mount..Im making a new tranny mount, as far as the dip stick tube Im running a 4 speed, shifter and linkage will be moved/modified to fit. So all that I anticipate minor problems but nothing to bad.
Im concerned about the firewall which I do not want to move in any way. I will however make slight modifications to the firewall for the bellhousing to clear. My other concern is the center link, how will this play a role when moving the motor back? Any other problems I didnt mention or may not be aware of?
thank you,
Pete
