Scotty, k-member looks good. What will you be using for steering arms? I take it this is not the first k-member you have built. Do you have one under your car or Laverne's?

I have one under my car now, Laverne gave me the locations for rack, lower arms etc. from his k member and helped me build the one under my car and the jig.
I have spindles from Corodoba on mine, but this one will have pinto spindles which already have steering arms cast into spindles, should shave a pound maybe two.....

I like the looks of that double crossbar style A LOT more than the single crossbar stuff that almost every one else makes. I think that would help keep the front frame rails square a lot better than a single tube. And
no square tubing - BIG BONUS in the looks department.

Re: 440 W8 Duster's k member - 06/27/12 03:53 PM
Are you forgetting about that huge chunk of metal called the radiator support?
The double tube also limits a lot of great oil pan options. If you are running an otherwise stock street car with just a K-member change the extra cross tube may make you feel better. This may be give some advantage for a road course car. The frame rails are trying to be twisted from the coil over shock mounts in these coilover rack steering conversions. When mopar designed the front the weight of the car was on the torsion bar crossmember and we know how strong a materail that is. For any of these aftermarket suspensions to work the car really needs the forward bars from firewall or cage to front frame. Just my opinion.
