Yeah, I've heard of the Select stuff going puff, or should I say Bam!

my current trans is full of TCS parts & they are works of art when you compare them to the stockers. i'm collecting parts to build a spare trans & will probably go with the full metal jacket drum along with their billet low reverse drum in the back up trans. the current trans' TCS billet steel drum has already saved me when the dumbass who built my trans first time failed on the sprag rebuild. blown sprag & still ran 10 zero.

Does that drum require any additional machining to install?

Just "Raw" alum in the reaction shaft sealing ring area ? ... what do they recommend for sealing rings then ....so the rings don't tear-up the drum ??

It has a brass ring machined for the seal ring area.

PC ... that link is not werkin' furr me ... brass ? ...why not steel? .... all considered at this point .. my choice is leaning towards a steel drum.

BUT NOT the one that has a lot of clutch discs.

Not sure why they decided to use brass but here's a picture. Maybe it has to do with the expansion rates of the materials. Brass likely expands at a rate closer to that of aluminum than steel.

As for sealing rings, teflon rings are included with the drum.

Is this drum Race only or can you use it on a moderately used street car ?

Hi,
I have this drum in my car and I'm happy with it, I chose it cause I freshen several friends trans with the alum drum and I don't care for the wear on the drum from the band , also the alum crap all over the inside of the trans also. I think its' a happy medium between alum and billet steel.

Not strictly a race piece and like already has been said, the steel "jacket" reduces the wear from the band that the aluminum drum suffers from and it is lighter than the full steel unit.

Doc,it seems that to use the extra disc, the thinner ones need to be used.My trans guy Tom preferred the thicker clutch disc so it's still,,,,,,,5 I think

I can ask Tom or B1 Johnny will say

i tried 6 disc's in my billet steel drum from TCS. i had a lot of overheating probs with the trans. we pulled it down & rebuilt with five fat disc's. seems to run cooler this rebuild.
