2004 Dodge 3500 Starter Wire Connector - 08/12/21 03:16 PM

Guys,

I need to replace the wire, or just the connector on my trucks wiring harness that goes down to the starter solenoid. The connector on the truck wire harness side is messed up, and will not clip onto the starter connector anymore. It slips off, and the connection becomes loose. This ends up making the truck not start intermittently. if i get under the truck, and push on the connection, it will then start - so im pretty sure this is my issue. Can anyone out there identify the mating end of this connector on the starter? My truck is a 2004 3500 with Cummins. The starter is new - so it is the wiring harness side of the connector i need to replace.

That’s why a lot of the re-man starters went back to the threaded stud or screw and advise to cut that spade connector and replace with an eyelet.

Personally I’d cut away the most likely broken plastic connector on the harness, and crimp or replace the spade connector so that it fits snug on the starter terminal and put some gray RTV in it. I’d then secure the solenoid wire to minimize movement.

I may have to do just that. What a stupid design!
