Pro RAM techs---Help - 11/29/19 04:50 AM

Im dealing with the common broken HVAC "blend" doors on my 04 Ram. This one has the dual climate control.

I fixed the broken RECIRC door and now have great air flow , but i have another problem.
Ive watched 10 different youtube vids , read some ram forums , and i still cant get a straight answer to MY issue .
As you know there are 4 or 5 doors and everyone seems to call them different names .

mode 1 door
mode 2 door
defrost door
Re -circ door (fixed)
Panel/ floor door
dual zone blend doors

etc...etc.....

I can switch between all vents fine , BUT i need hot air out of all of them--i only have hot air at defrost vents--dash panel and floor are cool air !! SO--which door is bad and what is the exact name for it , where is it exactly located in the HVAC box so i can replace it ????? THANKS IN ADVANCE !!

I do these all the time & sugguest to change all of them when the heater box is out. There all the same age & have the same problem breaking.

If you shop for the parts at the dealer give them a break.... the listings for those parts in that era absolutely SUCKS!!! Personally, I’d pull the box and “make it new”. There has been some upgrades and the lever links are now designed to take the load, not the doors.

i believe it was a big air bubble in the system

I did an overnight soak on the heater core with rad cleaner...flushing the hell out of it before and after.....warmed up the truck and went thru the refill process.....went on a test drive and ZERO heat !

I pulled the cap and the water did drain down maybe a qt or 2 ......but it did that before (stat opening) .

topped it off and drove it later on---FULL heat---all vents. Its never had great heat like now .

I know i will eventually have to replace blend doors though....
