Fuse Box - 04/04/19 05:07 PM

89 Dakota 3.9. Discovered by accident while changing the window relay/breaker, that the A/C blower fuse was melted and brown, but never blew. Needless to say it crumbled and fell apart trying to remove it and one of the legs broke off deep inside the box. Simple right. Snip the 2 wires and put in an inline fuse. Well, there is only a 1 brown wire going to the fuse and the other leg has a metal strip/common ground strap going to several fuses. I repaired what caused the fuse to burn, but not sure how to go about bypassing the box.

Take the power lead going to that common bus bar and remove it. Using a crimp band splice on the appropriate number of flying leads and terminate each one of those to a new fuse holder and do the same for the power output side of each fuse. Or if there is space and you feel the effort is worth it you could always add a second fuse block and do the same thing to bypass the first one instead of using a bunch of loose fuse holders. Delcity or waytek both sell generic universal fuse blocks in many flavors.
