Engine swap question on late '70's W150

I'm sure it's been done. What is the difficulty level on going from factory slant six to small block (probably LA 360) on '79 or '80 Power Wagon? On cars you're normally looking at K-frame swap, but on a W150, in order to do it right?

If it were to be on a 4 speed, would gear box bolt up with minor changes, e.g. a bell housing maybe?

I don't mind some available parts purchases, I just don't want heavy welding/modifications.

hey Larry, yes a bellhousing for a SB/435 and a set of sb engine mounts. and v-8 pulley alt bracket ect..

or a BB bellhousing

wires on the /6 are long so ez pz to shorten them or just re-route them.

piece of cake on a 4x4 with that county swing set I have buddy. and it travels.

If not in a 4X4, you will need to change the coil springs up front. S6 to V8 are different. Unless the low bouncy look is what your going for.

It's a divorced transfer case. No I don't want low in front look, but pics posted and info say I don't need to worry

If I knew where to start, and somewhat how to go about it, I'd be willing to sell a couple of my current vehicles and buy the truck I'm looking at, and swap a a non-mds hemi and nag1 trans in this truck. As much as I love the old school stuff, I would love to have the outer appearance of this truck with the performance of a new hemi, along with the quick starting, acceleration, smooth idling, efficiency of a modern hemi with maybe even a/c.

I'd truly spend the money if I knew of a local shop that could do this swap RIGHT. I have a good mechanic here in town but he's never down this swap and I have to imagine ALL KINDS of headaches would arise. Wire harness issues, fitment issues with engine and trans, mounts, linkages, etc.

But I swear I'd sell off two of my vehicles right now to free the funds. Anyone know of somewhere in the Central Florida area that does these swaps, and is know for excellence? Call my bluff!!! It ain't no bluff

If you want to do a Gen III motor swap the best bet is to buy a complete truck so you have all parts and pieces. then swap components over. In the long run it is cheaper. Is an easy swap ..if you have all the parts

I can see that being the case and would probably do so. The keeper truck just popped up first. I figure I'll have a lot less trouble finding the parts truck than the rust free keeper truck I'm looking at.
