Best GPS option for 2012 grand Cherokee Laredo - 02/18/19 12:25 AM
Just bought a real nice 2012 Grand Cherokee Laredo without GPS. Would like to add and not spend a fortune. Want built in GPS and still be able to use steering wheel controls. Any opinions on best bang for the buck would be appreciated.

I think I'd start at the dealer and compare what they can offer vs.
infotainment linky.

I have. OEM is unaffordable costs 1/5th of the price of the Jeep.

Just spend a lot less bucks and get a garmin with traffic and unlimited map updates. They want $600 to turn on the GPS in my wife's 2016 Cherokee and her radio is set up for it.

Stand alone GPS is one of the options I’m considering.

I have almost always had Garmin, you get used to it and the others seem cumbersome. I had a Magellan and a Tom Tom, wouldn't take one if given to me...

If you use a smartphone a head unit that supports apple carplay or googles app might work well.
my Company vehicle is a 2016 Chevy 3500 and it supports carplay. When I plug my phone in it uses the phone to run the map program on the trucks screen, as well as handsfree calling, voice text, music etc. Works well!

I’ll look into the CarPlay option. Thanks

Best thing about Garmin is you can carry it with you to another vehicle.

As far as GPS devices, I like Garmin too. I've had a couple of Magellans and they're not nearly as good. If you have a smartphone, Google Maps is an excellent GPS navigation system and you can even use Android Auto without having the feature built into your vehicle. See
