Rebuild and Mod Gen 1 CTD Injector Pump - 11/07/18 08:09 PM

I have pulled the tank, changed the lift pump and now IMO it is time to rebuild the injector pump. I found a thread elsewhere and all the pics were gone. Probably just switch fuel pins and somewhere in the future may go to bigger injectors.

Any help would be appreciated. Nothing on Y-Toob......

For a full pump rebuild, I use Metro, I don't do them myself.

As for tuning for fuel, what are your goals/use for the truck, play or pull?

It may pull the Duster someday. Not looking to go nuts. Keep my fuel mileage. When it was running I was pulling a steady 21.7mpg cruising at 62mph back and forth to Nashville. At 65-67 on a trip coming out of Florida once I got 26.7mpg.

I had a leak up out of the pump from the first day I bought it in 2007. I won't idle, and now needs a "shot" to start. I have't had it on the road for 6 years.

I have about $800 saved up. I am moving towards building a house and need a truck. Needs a battery and 6 tires + alignment. A big ass money pit. My neighbor has a '92 sitting in his back yard that runs like a top. He will never drive it, and it will rot into the ground. He is a horder and will never sell it. I love to have it to part it out.

where is it leaking fuel from? most external fuel leaks are fairly easy to fix.

On a stock truck, i'd run a Denny Stage 2 fuel pin, or an M&h3 pin. and a 3200 governor spring

I also highly recommend a m&H dynamic timing spacer.

Not familiar with a "timing spacer." I'll have to research that.

What is killing me is the lack of info out there on the Gen1's.

I'll research those fuel pins.

There is info out there, you just have to know where to look.

most info I find for the 1st gens is searching for very specific things. In this case there is some pump info by searching for "cummins 1st gen Ve pump"

I just started dialing in my dually after doing a motor rebuild. new setup: Built 727 by Lenny Fustini, DPC convertor, Ducky 5x14 SAC injectors, s362SXE .80 turbo, timing spacer, denny stage 2 pin, 4200rpm spring.
