lost truck key 2001 ram please hellllllp

lost my key so I got a new ignition lock cylinder for $20, but to remove the old one...
you need the key to turn the switch to to press the retaining pin in.

so i am dead in the water / any help you can offer i'm grateful for. Cheers

You should be able to take the VIN, your registration and ID to a dealer and they can cut a key for the original lock cylinder. Or call a locksmith.

or a new ignition switch!

I agree with the dealer option. Cheap and keeps all your locks the same. Return the new lock cylinder and get your money back.

Remove the lock cylinder from the door and take it to a locksmith he should be able to make a key from that.

ok to follow up i drilled and broke the old tumbler out and put the new one in. my beater farm truck so maybe i'll disable the door locks and just leave the new key in the ignition ;-) thanks for all the replies
