Power & Manual Seat Swap - 2004 Dodge Ram Quad Cab

Power & Manual Seat Swap - 2004 Dodge Ram Quad Cab - 06/18/18 09:38 PM

I have the chance to get a very reasonable, used replacement seat in the same color for my truck. The truck has a power seat but the replacement is a manual one. Does anyone know if the power assembly & switches will mate up to the manual seat without any trouble, or are they both very different?

Thanks.

Since you didn't say what year your truck is, I'm going out on a limb here.
Most seats accept either manual or power seat tracks. There may be a few seat trim levels that may not interchange. I suspect that if you found a seat that matches the rest of the interior in your truck, the seat tracks should interchange. There may be issues with the plastic trim around the switches though, it may not match up with the seats. I haven't had much experience with the 2000-teens trucks though. Gene

Thanks Gene, I forgot to mention the year, a 2004 Ram 1500 Quad Cab & the seat I can get is from a 2003.

The control switches & the plastic trim around them is my concern mostly. I don't want to give up the range of adjustability I have & hoping that I can keep the power set up. My wife drive the truck sometimes & needs to move it higher & closer.

If it were closer & not 5 hours away I'd have gone to see it & compare.

OR, might it be easier to swap foam/covers to the power seat. Maybe even cheaper to get new covers and foam. I'm assuming wear is the reason you ask about the swap...

Not a bad idea & probably a lot cheaper, but I have an issue going on with the backrest part of the seat. The mechanism that holds & locks the seat in the selected position feels like it's worn. When leaning back it clicks & starts to move on one side. The lumbar adjustment knob broke off too.

I can live without the lumbar adjustment but my wife is 5'-2" tall & refuses to sit on a phone book....LOL

Here's a side by side comparison of both types, I was hoping I can just get the cushioned parts to work with the existing tracks & switches.
