70s door interchangeability - 03/19/18 05:30 AM

So I destroyed the driver side door on my d100 tonight. Big bummer. Not sure it can be fixed. It's a 73 standard cab. Just curious what years would fit on it? Club cab doors? Thanks guys. help

What'd you do?

Pretty sure '72-80 are the same?

I've got a pair of '72 rust free doors but I know you are not close enough to be feasible.

72-74 doors are the same. Accept Fiberglass or metal screw on panels only

75 doors are a one year deal. Will fit. First year of plastic clip on door panel. Will accept any door panel.

76-80 doors have the recess around the exterior door handle.

72-77 have the early vent window lock.
78-80 have the push button vent window lock
These can all be swapped.
Some later years have riveted in window regulators.

As far as fit, any 72-80 door will bolt on and function

Regular cab, crew cab, Ramcharger and club cab doors all interchange

Pretty much the Chris Farley photo is what happened, Chris. Lol. I wasn't in the car though. Setting the timing and it popped out of park. Bent the door on my fence. Not my proudest moment, for sure. Thanks for the info guys! I'm trying to find a replacement now. That door had a bunch of holes in it anyway from about 5 different mirror installations so I'm trying not to be too bummed about it.

That's always been my biggest fear, seems I have nothing old with an operating e-brake & no one wants to just hang out in the thing while I'm tweaking on the distributor, plus on the Barracuda I'm always checking the 3000 rpm total advance, can't imagine it jumping in Reverse then.,.

I figured messed up latch area or hinge area.

Yep, it was a little scary. I was able to jump in it pretty quickly but I got my foot on the brake at the exact moment the door hit the fence. I'll never do that again without chocking the wheels. On a happier note. The door needed a bunch of bodywork and there was no damage to the hinge area. Just need a good door and a lower hinge.

If I remember correctly Dodge riveted the vin tag on the drivers door on the 70's pickups so I would recommend taking that off if your going to throw the door away. When I had my vin inspection done on my 77 Ramcharger that was one of the places they looked to verify all the vin #'s matched, Just my two cents.
