I have a '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 318. Any tips for removing the fan assembly from the water pump?

leave the serpentine belt on---you have to break that big nut on the fan--break it counterclockwise-----there have been numerous how to's here on the ram trucks....

Leave the belt on, put a wrench on the big fan nut and whack it with a hammer in the correct direction method has usually worked for me. The only exception was a 5.7 hemi that had locktight applied to the fan nut at the factory. I had to fabricate a pinned holding tool for that one similar to the factory tool. Then used a wrench. That worked. That particular nut went back on the new WP with anti-seize grease and no issues after.

X2 on Ahy way big hammer and smack it. Remove dip stick as i broke one when the nut freed up. I take a shop rack to hold wrench in position and wack it. Some guys in the shop will take a air chisel and catch the nut at it edge and move it. FYI most diesel go clockwise to remove.

Install just a good tap of the wrench will do it.

I only used my air chisel at an angle on the nut flat. One or 2 burps and it loose. Then just spin it off by hand. Its a regular thread so it left loose.Remove the AC compressor if its like a Dodge.Makes it easy to remove the stat if you chage it.The pipe off the pump can be tough to remove sometimes. The hose from the intake can be a bear to get to the clamp sometimes also.Rocky
