Met a guy at a breast cancer awareness car show Saturday. He had an incredibly clean 85 D150. Took me for a ride and all I can say is wow. Couldn’t wait to see his engine combo and was floored to see a bone stock 91 roller 318 with a streetmaster intake,a quick fuel slayer 450 carb, hei converted mopar distributor, long tube headers, custom y pipe with si/do muffler,a 998/999 trans with a 3:55 sg rear.i guess less is more sometimes🤔.

Yeah, for sure. Nothing radical, smooth idle, crisp acceleration. I like.

There is a pretty big difference between a fun street ride and a quarter mile bruiser. Far too many, for far too long, have thought that a street ride needs to have all the go fast stuff a quarter miler has to have. In doing so, most have killed the street performance of their rides.
A guy can have a mighty fun street ride if he keeps it a street ride and not try to make it a quarter mile ride. Gene

I agree. I been doing more with less for 40 yrs driving my mopars.

that's why I like my whiplash cams. the daily driver street performance is spot on with a bone stock everything but sounds like the hipo muscle engine everyone wants.

I have had some hotter 318 combos but none of them were street friendly and were pigs on the street trying to cruz around. WOT was great but anything else suxs.

like Hughes said..lots of better cams for going faster but the whiplash is for the street and bone stock engine combos.

drove my whiplash 440 to work today and just love how it sounds and drives in traffic.

I guess what was the most impressive to me anyways, was the fact that he still had the factory hydraulic roller cam in it.

There's a User on Youtube called "The Gas Tap" and he has a bunch of videos of his Magnum powered '80's Ram called Big Red. I watched it a couple of months ago and it's worth the watch.

The Guy is easy to listen to and smart about his mods. Check it out.

I have tossed a couple 4v intakes/headers on stock tbi roller cam engines and they respond well to the carb.

for what they are bone stock tbi/roller cam they beat the hell out of the late 70s 2v/flat tappet/open chamber 318s

I go check out the vids, thanks for the tip on them.

Anyone know the stock specs on the 91 tbi cam, offhand? I have a 91 kota with the original 318 tbi, myself, and it's due for a rebuild/redo. My FSM is in storage, or I would look it up myself. May just keep it if, say, a Edelbrock Performer
intake and 4bbl will wake it up just fine.

I’m interested in the answer to this also. I’ve read somewhere that it is something like 240/240-.398/.398 advertised not @.50

I have 2 bone stock ones in the parts washer.

maybe I can have the machine shop mic it and see what it has.

I always toss these out but held these 2 because they were low milage-less than 50,000 each. good for regrind maybe.
