1965 D500 Fire Truck Rescue

I thought some of you medium duty truck fans might dig this old logging water tender. I'm still up in the air on what it's fate will be. She is a little crusty from being on the Pacific Coast. On the other hand, a 2 ton crew cab with a 5-speed and a 2-speed rear end is pretty bad a$$.

It's pretty well optioned and has a large PTO driven pump. The steering and shifter feel pretty tight so the 57k on the odometer might be correct.

Factory tach, Zenith electronic ignition, HD alternator, and what appears to be a governor built into the carburetor are all fairly unique in my experience.

Sorry for the bad pictures. Low angle of sun, long day, cell pone pics lol. Pick an excuse!

My favorite part of this one is all of the insanely scrawled out hand written notes all over this thing. I'm half tempted to get it running and add a spray bar for watering the road and ready to roll in the case of wild fire. Not really the plan as we have been searching for a 4wd brush truck (aka W500!).

I'm digging it. Might make a cool roll back. Maybe a diesel swap. My cash runs out long before my big ideas.

What's top speed with 6.38 gears? 45 or 50? Wow! What a beast. Love it!

Assuming a 9.00x20 tire and the governor tacking out at 3800 RPM, 69-70 MPH.
If it's an 8.25x20, 65-66 MPH both feet flat on the floor.

Very Cool piece that truck needs a 12V Cummings.

Wonder why the Tag shown doesn't mention the Fargo branding?
