1998 Dodge Ram Transmission only has 1st gear - 10/03/16 04:44 AM
I looked at a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 360 automatic today.....has no reverse and will not shift out of 1st gear......doesn't seem to slip.....any ideas ?

What condition was the fluid in?
Does the kick-down cable operate?
How many miles on it?
Has it been a snow plow?
What does the OBDII scan say?

Fluid smells burnt.....kickdown cable ?????
140k......no plow ever......havent scanned it....no lights on
first gear only...freewheels...no engine braking....

Does the speedometer work? Is the ABS or brake lights on?
Run the codes, theres a weird no upshift condition that wont trip the CEL. Get those codes and report back

If no reverse and only has first gear I'd expect a rebuild is needed
