wiper motors from cardone...

are the A1 Cardone wiper motors known to fail quickly or anything??

my 77 truck had a junkyard wiper motor on it, it lasted a few years and failed by eventually slowing down more and more, would then pause a few times and i could get out and push the wiper arms and it would start again, then eventually quit working.

replaced with a cardone motor, lasted about a year and then it just stopped one day, wouldn't do anything after.
replaced with another cardone wiper motor, it's been on about 6 months and just this morning it just stopped working. nothing now.

anyone have similar experience or do i need to pull my wiper bushings and grease them or something?

Your bushings will be fine until they fail. Cardone is a typical "rebuilder", in other words they fix what's broken and send it out with a warranty. Any other option you can come up with, including used, will most likely be better. 2¢

i figured that. it's quite annoying.

i might give the "select" cardone a shot since i'm into this for the original cost already...

cardone select 85-380 brand new motor.

Looking around it looks like there's not too much choice, except for used. Might as well pull the cowl and replace the bushings while you're in there. You know they only fail when it's raining?

yeah, the bushings are pretty recently replaced.

i guess i'm gonna give that cardone select a shot, probably keep an eye out for a factory wiper motor if i ever hit up any junkyards again...

The pivot arms on my 79 require occasional lube to keep them free.

While you have everything apart to change the motor, pull the pivot arms and be sure they are not corroding up and binding.

The motor you have may be OK, just binding on the pivots.

i swapped another new motor in, working fine again. it was raining so i didn't check all the bushings real close but the wipers were easy to move, the main pivot that bolts to the motor pivoted easily by hand.
probably just got two junk reman motors.

i put a cardone "select" in it this time, it's supposed to be 100% new, the motor body is smaller. it's also noisy as hell. whatever, everything on the truck is noisy.

We used quite a few at work.never had any problems.I know my old RamChargers the wiper arms as said would get tight.They always seemed to pop a bushing in the rain or winter also.Rocky

Not to hijack the post, but have any of you had a switch with intermittent go bad in the 81-89 trucks? I'm having trouble even locating a new one.
