70 Power Wagon Marker Light Questions - 08/13/16 05:30 AM

I have a 70 Power Wagon. My marker lights are not working. I have 1 or 2 that work. Will a 71 marker light be able to work? The 70 marker lights are a 1 wire set up. The 71 I believe is the one where you have to twist the light into the marker housing. Will this require 2 wires to the bulb? I would like to keep the original set up but hard to find working marker lights. Any other ideas on how to get these working? Some of my wires are broken off the 70 marker lens housings. Can they be soldered on?

IIRC the older ones ground and just have a power wire. The newer style dhould have a power and ground. Its like the rears they ground thru the housing when the screws hold them in.Rocky

Add a ground wire to your light socket and ground it to the body or frame. I usually drill a 1/4" hole in the frame someplace accessible, grind the frame clean around the hole. Then I install a 1" long 1/4" bolt, with flat washers and a lock nut and tighten it against the frame. Then I add a 1/4" eyelet to a ground wire, install it on the already tightened bolt, and add another 1/4" nut to lock on the eyelet. You can usually install several ground wires on one bolt. In a few years, when the ground deteriorates, you simple remove the bolt, clean up the frame, and install another bolt setup. I tend to add a ground to all electrical components. it solves a lot of wiring issues. Gene
