Guys the boy has a 2000 dodge ram 2500 cummins. We have a stray wire in the steering column. Its red with black tracer. Its been patched into and run under the dash some where.

What is it and whats it for?

It is in the wire group marked #5 in the picture.

Thoughts?

Cheers Don.

Correct, In that group there is a red wire with a black tracer that the previous owner patched into. The red.black that runs under the dash is now not connected and they tied in a white wire and run it some where.

Wondering what the red.black wire is. Thinking of hooking it back up stock.

Cheers Don.

Could have been part of an alarm system or maybe even a breathalyzer interlock or something like that.

Maybe the electric brake wiring if you have a factory trailer hitch wiring.

# 6 should be the clock spring. Does the horn work?
