1998 Grand Cherokee rear end interchange

My Son's 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee rear end is making a lot of noise.It is a 4.0 2 wheel drive auto trans.I think that it would be easier to change the whole unit as opposed to rebuilding the one in it.What models and years will be a direct swap? Thanks

I think the swap can be made from 93-98 but I am not 100% sure.
