Buying this 1970 wrecked truck, what years interchange? - 07/05/16 07:19 AM

Im buying this 3/4 ton long bed sweptline. Its a running driving truck but was hit on the side Im buying it to turn into a short bed in time to be a hotrod type that will go with my W200 POWER WAGON SHORT BED. I need a door and THINK (?) that the door I need will be a 68-71> Am I correct?

Im also looking for a thread on how best to turn this into a short bed?

Thanks for any info.

Any push button door handle door, should work. But all 61-71 will bolt on, I believe

Thats what I thought when I built my 67 Power wagon and swapped out the front clip and short bed with a 63. The doors were different on the jam area where they close.

Im sure the front clips are find but the doors I think only fit particular years.

If you want to make it a short box truck, I believe you will want to locate a good short box first, they are pretty hard to find.

Then you need a short box frame, either another 64-71 frame, or a short box 72-93 frame (slight modification to the frame above the rear axle), or you need to remove a section from in front of the rear leaf springs and a section behind the rear leaf springs from your existing frame, or you need to splice in the rear 1/2 of a short box frame to the front of your existing frame. The doors will bolt on from 61-66 but latches will be different, use a 67-71 door it will be much easier. Check out sweptline.org for more info on hacking it into a shortbed. wave

I like the Sweptlines in the long bed better. The lines on the body seem to flow better.

Looks like a good score. I have a complete short box, sweptline parts truck here at the house with everything you need. It's a 61 frame with a 67 "custom" trim cab.

Shoot me a PM if you come across anything you can't find locally.
