Anybody ever seen a setup like this?

I'm headed to make a deal on Monday.

There's a similar setup close to my parents place (not a Dodge Chassis thoigh). It's an old cab over with an excavator setup on the back, looks older than dirt

Interesting...I guess this will be an odd purchase for sure. I'll snap some pictures tomorrow when we make the deal!

I would assume it looks something like this (don't mind the chevy its attached to) I would think its run off the PTO, I would buy one in a heart beat if I found it.

Some of the gas companies around here used to use them when the were doing under-street repairs. Usually the trucks had enclosed utility bodies. I haven't seen one for a while.

OK, consider me dumb, but where does thee guy operate that backhoe from? Inside the truck cab? Standing along side of the truck? or from some kind of remote? Carry a seat with him that attaches?

Trying to learn something here. Gene

This is how the one I posted works, I would suspect there are some stand beside ones as well, I have seen a tractor pto/3 point hitch one like that.

Well, bad news. It's a D600, not a W600. The good news is that I have the W500 that originally had the "HOPTO" mounted to it. With some brake/clutch hydraulic system reconditioning it should be good to go.

Dig the front bumper made from a 1.5" well pump drive shaft and two different gauges or RR track. And then there is the spring step...

its own engine and a halfish cab? nice. The child in me would be digging holes everywhere in the yard with that.

If I bought that, my wife would dig one hole... a deep one... and you'd never hear from me again.

My neighbor just bought a 74 D-600 with a logging rig.
The worst part is, it was $700.oo
I told him I hate him. frown
I have no use for the logging arm, but that truck would be a fun toy.
Maybe I can talk him into a back hoe.
I could "DIG" that! smile

She was with me checking it out and making the deal. It always amazes me how clean everything is in the high desert!

Here are a few more pics before it comes home.

That D-600 sounds very cool, please snap some pics and post them! We will use this for forestry work and digging road building aggregate in my neighbor's shale pit.

There is a '71 D700 dump truck for sale at an auction about 20 miles from here. I'm very tempted to run up there tomorrow! Dump trucks are big money makers around these parts in the spring!

I assume this is the original air cleaner assembly. Does anyone know when they stopped using oil bath air cleaners? I'm tempted to find an air filter element that fits on the oil bath setup on my '67 dump truck. When I hit ruts in the road on steep grades it splashes out and makes big smoke.

That will haul 7 yards of wet 1 1/2 minus like a champ. It really surprised me how well the wimpy sounding 361-2 barrel moves weight.

i am thinking the front bumper is a counter balance for when you are driving down the road....

Agreed! It should drive nice out here in the country. One of my gearhead pals insists that I pop some backhoe wheelies for youtube when it runs lol.
