What company has the best fitting carpet for the 72-80 D series truck? What brand have you guys used?

I used (I think it was) Auto Custom Carpet (ACC) and it was not worth the price. It wasn't the least expensive, but it wasn't the most, either. The quality of the material was fine, the fit was terrible!

This is it-

I went with Dodge Connection for my order, carpet with curtain. Fits great, a lot of material for trimming.

I think a lot of the kits most people are selling are coming out of Newark auto.

I've had pretty good luck with the kits I've used from them.

Although it's not for everyone, when I did my 76 True Spirit I went with the molded rubber floor mat instead of carpet......it a lot easier to keep clean if you're walking thru dust and dirt a lot. Although it's kind of hard to tell in the picture it fit really well.

The down side of using the rubber mat was that it's like the OE mat and doesn't go all the way to the back of the cab. They were cheap enough at the time (8 years ago) that I just ordered a second one and trimmed it to fit the back half of the floor.

I'm just finishing up an 87 Ram 50 (Mitsubishi) pickup right now that I did a V8/5 Speed swap on. I had to do a custom floor mat due to enlarging the transmission tunnel. I bought a roll of bulk floor mat from Newark (which has really gone up in price). I laid down some dynamat insulation and spent the afternoon doing the cut, stretch and glue thing but even that came out pretty well.

I don't think it came out too bad.

Not sure who makes it, but we have one still in a box from LMC. Will try to report (if it's not too late). Got seats mocked up and working on a hoop for shoulder belts - then a console for shifter, then carpet.

I bought carpet from Stylin Trucks.com about 2 months ago and got a pretty good deal on Trim Parts carpet. a discount code plus free shipping.

They still have it.

Sounds like it wasn't much of a deal if they still have it.

How does it fit? I'd buy some one today if they fit well at that price.

Edit: Well I bought one today in the Caramel color. Should ship in 4-5 days and take 5-9 to show up. So in about 2 weeks I'll be able to let you know how it fits.

I used the ACC carpet in my '92 CC, got the upgraded backing and floor mats. It fit very well, a lot better than the rubber mat I got a year or so before.

Thanks for posting the pic. I ordered one in Caramel but it was hard to tell color from the online pic. Hopefully it's not too dark to go with the rest of the interior. But I did want something a little darnall so as to look better over time, hide dirt a little better. I'm thinking I may have needed to order the color u have.

We'll see when it gets here

I was trying to figure that out when I got my carpet. I think it means it comes with something to cover the area under the back window.

Ah, ok. I did some searches on here and Google trying to find out but no dice.

Stylintrucks.com sent me an email saying they don't have my order in Stock so it's canceled. I'm ordering one from stockinteriors.com now in buckskin.

What they are referring to is a carpet that mounts on the back wall of the cab. It was used originally when you had the Bucket/Buddy seats.

OK. I've seen a couple at the j/y with that. One was a standard cab, tan interior

Re: Carpet kits - 07/10/16 08:00 AM

first one I ordered was fitted carpet with curtains ....not good sewn together seams were kind of ugly to me. I thought my bad for ordering it, the second one is Acc from aardvark and it fit well had to trim 4' off the back, side to side was perfect and it covers entire floor, no seams, molded to shape, and matching floor mats are on the way. I believe pics will be out of order first and last are the "fitted type with curtains" the second and third is molded carpet in 9779 medium gray
