Kaiser M715 Axletech 4000

Kaiser M715 Axletech 4000 - 01/20/16 12:27 AM

After selling my 6BT powered M715 last year, I missed having it. I found a super clean and complete 1968 Kaiser M715. I will drive it the way it is for a couple years, then the Axletech 4000s are going in.

That's pretty cool. I like where you're head is.

I assume you can get hydraulic calipers for the Axles? What do those things weigh?

Black Rock Fab makes brackets for both Dodge 2500 calipers and Ford F750 calipers. I have a set of the Dodge ones on order. Axles are 1500lbs and 1300lbs with the air calipers. They weigh 1100 and 900 with the Dodge calipers

Any room for more lightening on them or is that about it?

Very cool build!

Are you going diesel or LS with this one?

No, but a trussed D60 weighs almost as much and isn't as strong

No diesels for me anymore. Either SBC, BBC, or LS

Not asking to step on your |\|UT$ but why no Mopar power?

I want to retain the T98 tranny since it has the PTO for the mechanical winch. Or else it would be getting a 440 stroker...

These all have air lockers correct? I suppose I would be running a pinion brake since its not on the road, would save one disc/calipers worth of weight.

Yes, they have air lockers. Air to release. I would keep the brakes at the wheels. The pinion is low and centered unlike a toploader rockwell.

I picked up some aluminum MRAP rims

I also got a set of caliper brackets from Black Rock Fab. These allow me to use front hydraulic calipers off of a Dodge Ram 2500

Where's the Beef? Oh I know!!! Defbob took it all and put it on his Kaiser M715 axle swap! Those are some crazy heavy parts. Will this be street legal or off road only?

Re: Kaiser M715 Axletech 4000 - 02/02/16 02:43 AM

It'll be street legal-ish. The axles are the narrow version. They don't stick out very much on a K5 Jimmy, so my flares should cover them up good.
