Tilt column for 85 Crew Cab

Tilt column for 85 Crew Cab - 01/15/16 05:04 AM

Would like to add a tilt to my 85 Crew cab. Its an auto column and I have one from a 90 Ramcharger. Both are 4x4 type. It looks like a bolt in but not a "plug in". Could this be made to work? Is the wiring just too different? Anyone ever try this?

I'm sure it can be done, but the delco tilt column sure has some differences as you already have noted. You might need the same donor vehicle to grab what you need.

Not sure if the lower shaft is the same length, you may need one from a tilt truck.

The ignition, dimmer and wiper switches are all different. I know Dodge used a jumper harness to adapt the ignition switch, not sure on the other two. It can and has been done though.

Thanks for the replies. I looked in the 85 FSM and you are correct about the jumper on the ignition. At one point I did think that i could possibly make some type of jumper or adapter harness to plug this in. I don't want to cut up the trucks wire harness. I would consider changing the plugs on the 90 column for the turn signals.
Another bonus is that this column has delay wipers on it. I have all the parts to make this work too. But its another plug that does not match the truck.
