Upper/Lower Ball Joints

Does anyone with a straight-axle 2nd Gen 1500 4x4 get away with only replacing upper ball joints?

I've got side to side play in the uppers but the lowers seem pretty tight. Is it really necessary to do all 4 or can I just replace the two uppers only?

For the amount of work,I'd certainly just do em all.

Someone must have already changed the bottom ball joints, they usually fail first. Gene

Like to slap the Meathead Engineer at Dana upside the head for not machining a flat surface on both sides of the upper mount so you can drive the ball joint in straight. 3 effing hours to do one side..........

Have I mentioned how much I despise these straight-axle Dodges? At least 20 times I'm sure since I bought this truck.
