98 Ram: Quality headlamp assembly replacement unit

Hello all,
I have a '98 Dodge Ram SS/T. I was looking for a good quality complete headlamp replacement assembly. I'm looking for positive ( or negative to stay clear of ) reviews on available products..

I will say that you ought to stay away from the aftermarket "cool" assemblies, as they rarely perform their vital function. Stay with stock designs.

And, if you can, stay with factory stock!

Why do you need new ones?

I recently replaced mine with a set of Dorman brand (with side markers) original style replacements and am very happy with them. I got mine from Rock Auto. I agree with what was said above...stay away from the "cool" looking ones. I've never owned any like that, but learned from my son's experience.

Do not go for the aftermarket projector style or any with the built in LEDs. You can find new stock housings on EBay for a reasonable price. I bought these rt and lt for $46 each. I bought both the left and right from Mopar, thinking that if I get factory replacements all would be good. I bought them because the originals were fogging up as most did. My truck still looks as good as the day I drove it off the lot and wanted those foggy lamps gone. Well, the replacement parts aren't assembly line "NOS" parts. The driver's side has a pesky leak somewhere and it develops condensation inside, which is just as bad as the foggy condition. I could take it out, submerge it in water to find the leak point, but feel I'll be chasing my tail in that it'll never seal properly. The factory parts are rather expensive. I think I paid over $90 and that was a car club discount I get. So, I was looking to go the "non-over-the-parts-counter" route. Thanks for the Dorman suggestion and link...
