How bad is this job? About how many hours or days?

Google a how to search on that and you should come up with a number of videos showing how to do it.

I did Google it, but the videos were very vague and incomplete. That is why I was looking for an idea from someone who had done it.

I haven't done it on an 09 Ram but it's similar to most newer vehicles. Suck down refrigerant and drain the coolant. I would disconnect the battery, unplugging all the dash may make something geek out. Dash must come out and then the HVAC box, split it open replace evaporator and back in. Figure at least a day. I prefer to take the front seats and console if equipped out. Makes it much easier to maneuver the dash and many times you can lay the dash right there instead of hustling it out a door. Good luck with it. Total pain in the a$$.

Big job. I have been out of the field for a few years but I believe it pays at least 8 hours? Never did a Ram though. There was a TSB for the blend door on those but we never had to pull the box out for one.

Need an A/C machine first off to evacuate the system and fill it back up when finished.

Steering wheel/column has to drop or come out which needs to be done properly because of the air bag stuff.

Likely the shifter and console has to come out as well but not the seats.

Gotta disconnect a lot of stuff back there as well, there's a bunch of wiring crammed into a small place.

Dash does not need to come all the way out, you can lay it on the front seat but you would need to pull it back far enough to get the box out.

Getting to the lines and expansion valve in the engine bay can be tough sometimes, might be tucked under and hard to reach.

Not sure if the A pillar covers need to pop out but probably.

You need a trim tool to pop out all the plastic trim panels and a good cordless screwdriver or you'll be there all day.

As stated above dash doesn't come all the way out. I leave most of the wiring on the left side connected. Swing the dash back on the pass side and if you have a arm hook in the ceiling hook a bungee from the dash to it. you should have enough room to remove the HVAC box.Put a blanket on the front seat as the dash will be resting a bit on it. First time about 7 hours.
