spring upgrading plans - 02/25/15 04:04 AM

So i was planning out my spring upgrades and had a few questions
Has anybody ran a champion radiator for a dodge truck? hows the quality on them? do they mount in the factory spot? trans cooler?
Should i upgrade from the larger summit cam to a hughes whiplash cam? if i do upgrade the cam what else should i order besides lifters?
Aluminum water pump suggestions?

On the cam, it depends on the rest of the combo... and how you like the one you have. Compression, intake/carb, exhaust, rear gear ratio and tire diameter. How does it run with the current cam? In general, cam and springs need to be matched so cam change may require springs depending on what you have to start with.

On the Champion rad, I've never run one but they are pretty poplar on brand F PU's. Is the current radiator getting feeble?

If it runs/cools OK now, those upgrades sound like a lot of money and work for moderate gain.

you don't mention what engine you have, and what's been done to it. whiplash is a cool cam, but you'll likely need springs to go with it, and you may have to cut the spring seats, as well.

what else? headers, air gap intake, 4 bbl carb, good dizzie and ignition box, etc. 4:10 sure grip also helps. a lot.

It's a 400. I don't believe I forgot to mention that The motor has long tube headers a edelebrock dp4b intake and 600 carb. the bottom end is fairly fresh re ringed in 09. Not sure how cool or warm it runs the temp gauge quit working

If your talking about buying an aluminum pump housing, maybe one of these will save you the cost of a radiator.

I bought one of these passenger side drop housings recently, fits nice and it looks to be a great upgrade over the stock one.
