Very solid looking. Good start. I'll be watching this one. I want to do something similar in a 76. It already has a 4 speed, but it's a granny gear set-up. Where did you get the hump? Come with the trans? Could you please mention where every thing came from. Thanx tons.

Are you talking about the black fiber glass piece...from a salvage yard....I have another one if you need one. I forget where I got the bell from...hard to find...there is a sight that still has it listed for sale....but expensive....I paid a little less, but not much.....my Dad ran that trans in a 71 pickup back in the day.

Yeah I meant the fiberglass part. P.M. me I wont need pedals but linkage, drive, shaft and the rest. I would imagine most would be sourced at the pick n pull. What year trucks should I be looking for? Hopefully I could get it all from the same truck. I'm probably gonna use a 360 I have laying around. I wanted to follow along as the rest will be the similar enough.

The carpet actually had cut outs of a truck four speed and the 4x4 shifter, but not for the car four speed hole....oh well....still cool that it had those two items.
Description: Hello...got it figured out....derrr....lol

it must be my old age----BB 2 wheel drive is really cool----you know chevy used them in 1/2 ton and blazers for a few years and they are popular with some of the circle track set....

I downloaded the picture, looks like a car/2wd 833 to me
Correct........ more pictures this week as I get the column back together.....with new grant wood steering wheel to match the pistol grip shifter and Pentastar horn button.
Re: 518 to OD833 behind my BB 86 RC - 08/13/1502:39 AM
the guy that told me about them said that some had the chevy bolt pattern and some had the dodge pattern---the bellhousing for the dodge one is pretty rare as chevy guys didnt know what they looking at...
Re: 518 to OD833 behind my BB 86 RC - 08/13/1509:03 PM
the 833 is a favorite with chevy guys running circle track---remember the 833 hemi is the strongest 4 spd ever and the regular 833 is the second strongest---the budget racers are always looking for them...

and robbins limit your power displays to first and second gear---3rd and 4th are somewhat weak due to being reversed in order on the mainshaft----passon sells a hemi cut gearset for the 833od that is good to 750hp---one of my friends runs one at the dragstrip in a blown stroker 440 with no problems in 5 years---loves it as he can drive on the highway at fairly normal rpms.....

I'm really not going to be hot rodding this thing around....ya I wouldn't mind getting that kit.....but to be honest..... I'd rather have his five speed.....and with my change over.... I can go that way when I get rich....lol

I've seen a two wheel drive one out of cheby on the floor at a friends place (back in the 90's) and it had the Mopar bellhousing pattern.
Re: 518 to OD833 behind my BB 86 RC - 09/18/1504:53 PM
I'm guessing that the two wheel drive RC/TD's had shims between the crossmember & frame is cause of the shorter wheel base than the short bed trucks.....but I'm hoping it's not going to affect the height of the shifter to much.

Still plugging away at it. The rearend cover had a leak....Sure Grip from Dr. Diff. I made a gasket between the floor and the fiber hump....I hope it works. More pictures to come.
